MedBeach Sustainability
Mindful of the fact that ‘going green’ is no longer an option, but an obligation to which we all have a responsibility to fulfill, MedBeach undertook a complete replacement of its chillers with high-efficiency units, to great ‘green’ effect.
Used in the cooling of water of central air-conditioning systems – the latter responsible for some 20 percent of the hotel’s annual energy consumption – the efficiency of a chiller is integral to reducing one’s impact on the environment.
As a result of the efficiency, MedBeach succeeded in reducing its energy use by some 4.5%, as well as lessening its consumption of diesel oil (used in the heating of water in the hotel) by approximately 30%. Further to ameliorating the hotel’s environmental footprint in terms of emission of greenhouse gases and other atmospheric pollutants, the efficiency improvement has also aided in the conservation of water, and the reduction of the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity. Whilst the road to going green is long, we are committed to reaching its end, and this is an important step in the right direction.
