Sleep well, dream better as like you are at the Medbeach
We know that our internal clock thrives on routine. From the familiarity of a daily 9-to-5 workday to the standard pattern of interaction between natural sleep and alertness rhythms, we tend to sleep better when we follow a schedule. Unfortunately, current circumstances have thrown all carefully planned schedules out the window, and many of us find ourselves wide-awake when we should be asleep. Boredom from too much time spent #athome, a surplus of Netflix, and even too much screen time can really do a number on our internal clock.
This can lead to sleep disorganization and even deprivation, which in turn can make people feel tired and irritable, dizzy, or even stressed during the day. We asked our In-Room Attendant at the Medbeach Hotel, Ms. Eleni Lefkou to share her top tips on how to turn our bedroom into a hotel-like sanctuary, to help us relax in a comforting, relaxing environment. Get ready for some quality Zzzzs…

Use fluffy pillows
There’s nothing like sinking into a bed surrounded by big, fluffy pillows. For a queen or king-sized bed, we recommend a maximum of 4-5 pillows. You can reserve 2 of these pillows to "stand up" against the bed frame. The choice is yours! -
Choose white linens
At the Mediterranean Beach Hotel, we have found that an all-white colour scheme gives a fresh feeling of newness and rejuvenation. It’s also easier to wash and bleach white sheets! Just make sure that the rest of your room, including your headboard has a bit of colour to avoid a stark, cold look. Warm accents around the bedroom can keep the space luxe and cosy.

Invest in sumptuous bed sheets
Choose percale sheets if you like that crisp, cool feeling when sliding into bed. Percale sheets will soften over time to create a classic feel. They also tend to feel lighter and more breathable, making them perfect for the summer months. However, if you prefer a silkier, smoother feel that is lustrous and drapes over your body just so, choose sateen sheets instead. -
Add a featherbed
Featherbeds add a plush, cosy, cloud-like factor to the bed. Indeed, it is this unique element that adds that extra comfort to your hotel bed, making it utterly irresistible. There’s no need to spend a pretty penny on a fancy featherbed; discount store versions can also do the trick, especially when coupled with quality pillows and sheets. -
Make your bed
A well-made bed makes all the difference. At the Mediterranean Beach Hotel, we use flat sheets instead of fitted bottom sheets, and tuck them in using a hospital fold. To do this, simply lay the flat sheet over your mattress, and fold the four sides of the sheet under the mattress. You’ll then be left with material hanging out at the corners. Fold these into a 45-degree angle, and firmly tuck them under the mattress. Make sure to also fold down your comforter or duvet in order to show off your pillows. You’ll notice that the beds of all luxury hotels are smooth and wrinkle-free. Of course, we’re not suggesting you steam or iron all your bedding – who has time for that? Here’s a trick instead: spray your duvet and sheets with a light mist of water. Wait a few seconds, then gently shake out or smooth the linens with your hands across the bed. Voila! Wrinkle-free sheets!
